Wellness Days
Book a wellness day for your school, university or place of work
Using sound as a therapeutic medium is not new. Music has been used throughout history to help to restore health and wellbeing. Music lifts the spirits and helps us to relax, and because our bodies are made up of so much water, the sounds are able to go deep within.
I offer wellness sessions to education and work settings. These sessions are designed to be an antidote to the stressful times in which we are living, and are are tailored to meet the particular needs of the setting.
Previous sessions in education and work settings
Some schools have selected particular children for sessions whereas others have chosen to open sessions up to the whole class. For young children we spend some time looking at the instruments and getting to know their sounds. I encourage them to think about how different sounds make them feel. Some children will choose to lie on the mats and some will want to sit while I guide them on a journey with the sounds and a story.
At universities, I have run group sessions for the students which typically last 60 to 90 minutes depending on the needs of the group. The sessions have focussed on relaxation and better sleep patterns.
At some work settings, participants have sat on chairs rather than on yoga mats. Some sessions have been shorter - during a lunch break for example - while others are longer after-work sessions.
How does it work?
We will have a brief discussion before your session to discuss the group and their needs. I will bring my instruments to your establishment, as well as yoga mats and any other equipment needed. After a brief introduction to what I do, participants will be invited to get comfortable while I play some relaxing sounds.
